Your donation supports specific parts of the Colombian Project
" Forjando los Líderes del Futuro" in IBAGUÉ
Forging the Leaders of the Future” is a Rotary initiative supporting 120 rural youth living in the Cañón del Combeima, an agricultural and ecotourism region near Ibagué, Colombia. Through a structured three-year educational program, students receive training in:
• Agro-ecotourism
• Sustainable agriculture
• English for tourism
• Digital skills
• Entrepreneurship
• Socio-emotional leadership

The program strengthens the local economy, reduces youth migration, and opens real opportunities for meaningful work in tourism, agriculture, and green businesses.

Why This Project Matters & How Your Donation Helps
Why this project matters
Youth in the Cañón del Combeima region face limited educational opportunities, high migration, and very few local jobs. Families report:
• High youth migration after basic school
• Limited access to teachers, equipment, and technology
• No English training despite tourism potential
• Weak digital and entrepreneurial skills
• Few meaningful local opportunities
At the same time, the region is a certified sustainable tourist destination, with strong potential for:
• ecotourism
• sustainable agriculture
• hospitality services
• agro-transformation (coffee, fruits, preserves)
Community surveys (April 2025) show:
• 86% see English as essential
• 80% see high potential in tourism/agrotourism
• 78% want training in sustainable agriculture
• 74% want agro-transformation skills
• 84% need better learning spaces and equipment
The opportunity is huge — the resources are missing.
